What Is an Implant-Retained Denture?
In this video, Scottsdale implant dentist Dr. Seerat Mann explains the revolutionary alternative to traditional dentures utilizing mini dental implants.
Implant-retained dentures represent a groundbreaking advancement in dental prosthetics. Unlike traditional dentures, these are anchored securely to your jawbone using mini dental implants, ensuring they stay in place during activities like eating and talking. Here’s how the procedure works:
For the upper jaw, approximately six implants are placed, allowing the denture to snap directly onto them. An added advantage is that we can remove the palate section from the denture, enhancing your ability to taste food and reducing the risk of gagging.
For the lower jaw, about four mini implants are typically used, and again, the denture snaps directly onto these fixtures.
Another significant benefit is that there’s no longer a need for denture adhesive, which can be detrimental to your health.
